Introduction ……………………………………………………… 1.Krishi Vigyan Kendra - North Goa was sanctioned in the year 1983 by ICAR. It actually started functioning from 1st April 1984, from 1984 to 2005, it was catering for whole of Goa. Since 2005 i.e. after starting of new KVK for South Goa, this KVK is exclusively for North Goa district. Initially KVK was functioning in host Institute building i.e. from 1984 -2001 then it was shifted to the farmers hostel in the year 2002. In the year 2005 an administrative building was constructed and thereafter it started functioning from said new building. KVK is well connected with roadways, railways and airways. To reach KVK you have nearest railway station named Karmali which is just 500 mtrs away. If you are traveling from roadways the the nearest major bus stand is Panaji bus stand which is 12 km away, from there you can take a local bus to Old Goa town. For the persons coming through airways the ariport is Dabolim at Vasco which 32 km away. Overview
Mandate of KVK
Technology assessment, refinement, demonstration and capacity building 1.To conduct On-Farm Testing to identify the location specificity of agricultural technologies under various farming systems. 2. To organise Front Line Demonstrations to establish its production potentials on the farmers’ fields. 3. To organise Training of farmers to update their knowledge and skills in modern agricultural technologies and training of extension personnel to orient them in the frontier areas of technology development. 4. To work as resource and knowledge centre of agricultural technology for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for improving the agricultural economy of the district. 5. In order to create awareness about improved technology, a large number of extension activities will be taken up. 6. The seeds and planting materials produced by the KVKs will also be made available to the farmers..Major Activities of KVK
